T-ball

It's his first season, or maybe our first season, seeing as how each game is a full on family affair.  Brother loves t-ball.  Here are some shots of his first few practices and game.

Opening day was held at the Minor League stadium here, they got to sit in the dugout and run around in the outfield.  It was cold, but fun!  The first thing Brother did in the dugout was to put his glove in one of the cubby holes...forever a rule follower.

The first game was inaugurated with the Sisters putting dandelions in their hair.  It was all Daddy's idea.  They have them in now, but the cuddly squished them out of the picture!

Sitting on the bench with the team waiting for their turn to bat.  Batting helmets are very exciting things.

Waiting to hit.  It may look like his coach is pointing to the ball to tell him where to hit and holding his bat so Brother doesn't hit him instead of the ball.  Acutally, Brother is such a fierce hitter, coach has to hold him back until the other team can handle him ;)

Daddy explaining the play by play.

The after game high five run...now a favorite because there is snack at the end!

Counting down!

We are starting the sixth week of Brother in a cast...it ends on Friday!

The first day of vacation at the beach, Brother falls off the top bunk of bunk beds and breaks his right arm.  It will be a vacation we will never forget!

He handled everything like a champ.  He slept the first night in a splint, got a big cast the next day and never complained since!

They had to manipulate the bone back into place which was so sad.  Here he is getting the first cast on.  Poor guy!

After 3 weeks in a long arm cast, he got a brand new short arm one!

Now, this Friday, almost 4 weeks with this cast, it's coming off!!!!  This is the smelliest, grossest cast, you just can't understand...glad to be counting down the days!

Lovey

Little Sister (who isn't so little anymore) is the only one of my three that has a security toy/blanket. Big Brother couldn't be bothered, Big Sister was too busy chasing Big Brother, but Little Sister loves the lamb. The lamb that her great aunt bought at the outlets during breast cancer awareness month a few years ago. The lamb we only have one of and are not readily available in stores. The lamb that Tank, the dog, put two holes in the back of. The lamb that more often than not smells like vomit. The lamb with two ears, a tail and a tag that are just perfect for fingering with a thumb in your mouth. The lamb that Big Sister coined "Lovey".

Here's to Lovey: may she never get lost!

Hurricane Irene

It was a hurricane alright.  A category 1, but enough wind and rain to keep me up all night, or was that the tornado warnings?!  Little Sister and I listened to the storm for quite a while.  10 hours without power, all night long, with the kids one the first floor, Little Sister in my arms, pacing, while Daddy tried to catch up on sleep from his last night shift.  It was a long night scanning the radio for the only station I could find out of Boston, checking the windows at every loud wind sounds just in case I could see a tornado, up and down the steps checking on the big kids who slept like rocks through it all.

Woke up at six this morning with our flashlights, all huddled on the bed with flashlights watching Jenna clap for the first time.  What a great end to the storm.  An hour later we had our power back and saw the storm moving away on the radar.

Praise God the storm is past and breaking apart!
